MA came to the Homeopathic Practice (RHSL) in 2013 aged 5years. He was having problems at school, hiding under the table when corrected and was screaming at other children from time to time. 'The teachers say he has a short attention span. One started a star chart with him but that went badly. While correcting him the teacher would write in red all over the copy, document every minute of the day of the child. That upset him. One minute I am told he is excellent and working well, the next I am told to collect him. He runs under the table and they can’t get him out’. What is he like when he is under the table? ‘Just won’t come out’. Does he scream or bite? ‘No’. ‘The teachers say he sucks on the track suit and acts strangely’ Does he do that at home/ Or has he done that in the past at any stage? ‘No. Not for a long time. Maybe when he was smaller but it didn’t last’. Tell me about an incident that happened. What was he like? ‘Last week I looked at him crossly as you do. In that moment he ran under the table. He was saying you are not my mammy but he wasn’t screaming or shouting. He is the best behaved normally at home. In the morning he dresses himself, makes his bed and brushes his teeth before we go to school. He melts down when he is in trouble in school. He doesn’t talk about it when he is at home’. What makes him better? ‘Calm atmosphere. When he senses that I am calm then he quietens’. What makes him worse? ‘Other people’s reactions for example an angry look’. When he flips it doesn’t last long and then he is straight back to normal’. What do the teachers say a ‘melt down looks like? So, he can ‘jeer’ sometimes. He laughs at the teacher and plays the class clown. Other times he just runs and hides’. What does sad look like? Tongue out and squints at me. What does bad look like? Shows teeth and stares at me. What foods does he like/hate? He loves cucumber, strawberries. He prefers vegetables that are uncooked. I find though that ‘ambrosia creamed rice’ sends him hyperactive and so do the strawberries. Is there anything else you’d like to say? ‘He has always got sinus and breathing problems at night. I keep him off milk and lots of food additives. He had improved with that. I use a humidifier at night and he sleeps well’. What do you think causes the chest? ‘The sinus and he has postnatal drip too. My other son has it and that works for him too’. What makes him worse/better? ‘Don’t really know. The food thing really’. Does it happen at any particular time of year? ‘No, haven’t noticed’. ‘When he is snotty it is usually clear but it burns the top of his lip’. How does he sleep? ‘10 hours but he is tired in the morning. Last week I found him asleep at 12midday. He likes to nap. He sleeps on his right or on his back, quite flat with no pillow. He yawns a lot too’. The teacher says there is a definite improvement, better mood. His ability to verbalise has dramatically improved the last two weeks. He doesn’t ‘blow’ off as quickly’. ‘Things are good and bad. In that the week we did the detox of vaccinations he was remarkable calm for the week. About 10 days into that though he was a ‘terror’ to the point I didn’t want to send him to school. He had a cold and simply wanted to stay at home!’. Advice from Practitioner and plan LM2 Arsenicum POLY VAC Detox Protocol Third Follow Up Visit ‘He has been very good. Calm in the school with other children and the teachers. He is taking correction without the drama. Teachers say he is playing well with other children.’ ‘His chest is good and definitely has less intensity of the asthma symptoms and less often with the symptoms.’ Advice from Practitioner and plan LM3 Arsenicum POLY VAC Detox Protocol I see MA from time to time but his behaviours have improved both at home and at school, his concentration has steadied and he is more tolerant of mistakes that he makes. Mum says his chest difficulties have also improved to the point of not being a problem now.
