If you’ve had a consultation with a homeopath, started taking your prescription, and after a few weeks you’ve found that nothing has changed whatsoever and there are little niggling doubts that maybe homeopathy doesn’t work. This DOES NOT mean that homeopathy doesn’t work for you. There are a number of possibilities if this happens – 1. The Remedy Choice is Incorrect
This can be because of ‘human error’ or ‘human limitations’ on the part of the homeopath. Have we asked the right questions? Have we delved into a particular issue enough? Do we have all the detailed characteristics of what is going on? Did we analyse the case correctly? Did we give the correct remedies? Or, it can be because not enough information was shared during the consultation. This is OK as it can take time for a trusted relationship to develop. Some clients are happy to share and be open in the first consultation; other clients prefer to slowly build a trusted relationship. So if it appears that homeopathy doesn’t work in your case, get in touch with your homeopath, and allow for a further step in the therapeutic relationship to build. More information can be shared or the homeopath then has the option to clarify particular issues, re-evaluate the outcomes and adjust treatment plans. Usually re-evaluation allows for better matching remedies to be prescribed. 2. The Remedy is Correct but the Potency/Dosage is Incorrect This is another possibility. Often higher or different potencies are needed; or the frequency of the dosage should be adjusted. This is very individual and definitely case-dependent. 3. There is a Deeper Block that needs an Additional Remedy This is HIGHLY LIKELY. Usually there is deeply ingrained, genetic-type influences, which need to be addressed. Specific remedies are used for this, which is usually given alongside your original remedy. There’s a good chance that your homeopath suspects this is the case even before your case is re-evaluated; but they held off on prescribing until evaluation of your initial response. 4. Additional Low Potency Remedies These can be in the form of tissue salts, sarcodes or bowel nosodes and are needed to support the body during treatment. If rebalancing/detoxing is too much for the body, additional support (particularly for the kidneys and liver) is important. 5. A Layered Approach is Necessary Sometimes illness is so deep-seated and chronic that one layer at a time should be treated. Breaking things down into layers allows for a gentler approach. A slow burn is needed here. 6. Obstacles Hindering the Treatment This can be diet or lifestyle with the client. It can be conscious or unconscious. A bit more investigation may be needed. If there are environmental or physical obstacles, this can be discussed and steps taken to overcome this. So what I’m saying here is …..COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR HOMEOPATH (Get in touch and let your homeopath know how you are getting on. If things are going well, then this is not needed and you can wait until your next appointment (usually 3-5 weeks later). But, if things are not going as expected, let them know) Homeopathy Consultation is a process tailored on a case by case basis. It identifies the individuals reaction to the world they live in and provides homeopathic medicines to give a long ter, natural and positive approach to your health and well being.
